Not directly, and anyone claiming otherwise is selling you something. What is AI visibility, in plain language?

Someone asks ChatGPT for the best in your line of work nearby, it replies with three or four names, and the customer calls one of them. AI visibility is whether you are on that short list. Unlike search results, there is no page two to be found on.
Is this just SEO with a new name?

No, but it includes it. The industry calls this work AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization); classic SEO sits underneath both. SEO gets you into Google's index. This gets you into the answer an assistant gives when nobody looks at the index. The mechanics differ: models favour pages that fully answer one question, published prices, structured data, and third-party sources they already trust.
